Katherine Jones

Chair of Governors

Katherine has been a teacher for 40 years, working in primary schools in different parts of the country.

For the last ten years of her career, she was a Specialist Teacher for children special needs for Kent County Council.

Katherine supported The Llewellyn School with Sara right from its conception and early growth and has worked as teacher, SenCo and Designated Safeguarding Lead.

As Chair of Governors Katherine will work with a committed team of governors and staff who are dedicated to provide a safe, caring environment in which every child can achieve their potential.

Gary Fairhall

Finance and HR Governor

Gary has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry.

He is a Director / Mortgage Advisor and has his own company.  He has a wealth of experience in his professional career and is a keen supporter of Louie’s Helping Hands and The Llewellyn School.

Gary is very proactive in fundraising for The Llewellyn School.

Jann Gilliland

Health & Safety / Safeguarding Governor

During her working career, Jann has held posts as a teacher in a large secondary school, as a psychiatric nurse-manager within the NHS. She has completed a number of multi-agency safeguarding courses, and facilitated training.

Jann holds specific responsibility for Safeguarding within Llewellyn School. She also provides input into Health and Safety at the school and, support in the completion of Risk Assessments and the At-Risk Register.

Jann believes that Safeguarding is everybody’s business and that working together as a team, with appropriate training and knowledge, will ensure that the school’s shared Safeguarding Principles, its lawful obligations and its strategic aims are met.

Jann aims to visit the Llewellyn School regularly to audit Safeguarding arrangements in line with Ofsted and ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ requirements and work together with the Senior Leadership team and Governing Body to ensure this is met.

Michelle Palmer

Community Inclusion & Complaints Governor

Michelle has a background as a personal assistant and in administration skills and is an asset to the school in helping to maintain attention to detail. She works alongside school ensuring that that access to the community is provided and helps to ensure links with the community.

Michelle also deals with any formal complaints, ensuring that they are dealt with in the right manner and time frame.

Hayley Richardson-Byrne

Staff Governor

Hayley was elected to staff governor due to her commitment to being an excellent role model for students and staff.  Hayley has worked within the education sector for over a decade, often supporting children and young people with special educational needs and/or, with English as their second language.  This wealth of experience allowed Hayley to consider where there existed, a need for student support, and Hayley made the decision to train to become a Reading and Phonics Lead.  First through self development, and then through specialist training and a HLTA course, Hayley took on the role with ambition and passion, making the role her own.

Hayley has developed a legacy of amazing outcomes, supporting a range of children to meet, and often, exceed their reading and phonics goals, develop confidence and resilience, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Jamie Martin

Finance and Compliance Governor
Jamie is a secondary trained Computing teacher who has over 20 years experience teaching ages 5-18.  A pastoral lead at key stage 3 and a Head of ICT in his last 2 roles, he has gained experience in managing IT and working with a variety of stakeholders.  Passionate about school improvement and all things IT.

Emily Anderson

Parent Governor

Emily enjoys playing an active role in her local Birchington community, and looks forward to being part of The Llewellyn School Governing body.

Emily has help enormously already with raffle donations, selling raffle tickets as well as donating books to the school library.

Victoria Longstaff

Clerk to the Governors
Vicky undertakes the role of Clerk of Governors, extending her extensive experience supporting the administration and governance support functions at the school.  Vicky joined the school as a teaching assistant, mainly working with students with PMLD, supporting amazing outcomes for the students which benefitted their physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing.  After several years in this role, Vicky was asked to support the administration team as a Finance and Administration Assistant, utilising her previous career as an Administrator.  Vicky is able to bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills to the role, which strengthens the safeguarding and governance culture of the school.
